Denk zelf ook wel Lashley... Weet nog niet zo goed wat ik daar van vind.

Verder kan ik me geen vrije, 'sensationele' HW voorstellen op dit moment.

Het blijft tobben met die dikkerdjes...

Saturday night at the Fedor vs. Rogers post fight press conference CEO of Strikeforce Scott Coker announced to the media that Strikeforce will be signing two more heavyweights in the coming week. This announcement created a buzz with everyone trying to guess who the Heavyweights will be. Unfortunately the available top ranked heavyweights are few and far between, so narrowing down the list of a handful of available heavyweights to two that Strikeforce would like to sign is not difficult. Let the speculation begin!

First lets list the top heavyweights that are able to sign with Strikeforce; Tim Sylvia, Jeff Monson, Andre Arlovski, Bobby Lashley, Aleksander Emelianenko, and Josh Barnett. The first name that jumps out of that list is Bobby Lashley. Strikeforce has been in negotiations with Bobby Lashley for a while with both sides saying that the negotiations are looking very promising. Lashley would be a great draw for Strikeforce and he will definitely help them rake in the ratings. For the first addition Lashley is a no brainier, if Scott Coker is able to sign him.

The second heavyweight addition is much harder to pin. Working under the assumption that Coker wants to bring in more potential challenges for Fedor Emelianenko . We could rule out Tim Sylvia, who Fedor decimated at Affliction: Banned and Andrei Arlovski who Fedor KTFO at Afflictions second and last showing. Moving on to Jeff Monson who is a solid fighter with a good fight record, unfortunately he is a "boring" wrestling and submission specialist who lost his last fight to Pedro Rizzo, who stuffed all of Monson's take downs and put on a striking clinic on Monson's face.

Aleksander Emelianenko was denied license to fight in the states for undisclosed reasons, speculation regarding his denial runs from the felonies on his record to him being a possible Hepatitis C carrier. On top of that Fedor said he would not fight his brother in the cage. For those reasons Aleks Emelianenko can safely be taken out of the picture.

Which leaves us with Josh Barnett who is still ranked in the top 3 Heavyweights in the world. Although Josh is available and would love to get a Strikeforce contract he was suspended for a year by the California State Athletic Commission for failing his drug test. Barnett and his team of lawyers have appealed to the CSAC for a hearing which was granted and will take place on Dec. 6. Even with the hearing scheduled it is unlikely anything will change. Barnett's suspension ends in August and it would be pointless to sign the fighter now.

This does not leave us with a second signer, so at this point it can be safe to assume that the second fighter is not necessarily being signed as a possible match up for Fedor, but instead is being signed to bolster the Strikeforce heavyweight division. At which point it could be safe to assume that they will bring in Andrei Arlovski or Tim Sylvia. If the Fedor vs. Rogers card was any indication, for those who noticed, The Pitt Bull was sitting ringside during the event giving the impression that we are likely to see him grace the Strikeforce cage once again.

It is difficult to tell who the second heavyweight is going to be, because the reasons for the acquisition are unknown. It is however a safe bet that regardless of whom Coker signs this coming week, we will see Andre Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnett and maybe even Jeff Monson grace the Strikeforce hexagon in the future.

Pitbull.

Bas Boon,

Gilbert vs Overeem!!!
