Even wat updates over DEEP

______________________________________________
Several fights were announced for the June 6th DEEP CAGE IMPACT 2010 in OSAKA event today at the DEEP Gym.

Katsuyori Shibata will make his return to step into the cage for the second time when he takes on Zainichi Korean RYO.

Shibata, who was present at the press conference, said that he wants to win this fight and use the money to buy a tombstone for his father, a NJPW pro-wrestler and referee, who passed away on January 16th. He also said that he’s happy to be fighting in a cage again, revealing his thoughts about DREAM’s first event in a cage.

Former DEEP Welterweight champion Seichi Ikemoto will take on Naoki Matsushita at a 73kg fight. Apparently Ikemoto will make an appeal for a K-1 MAX 70kg fight if he wins. Also, one of the best Lightweights of South Korea, Un Sik “Tornado” Song (called Tornado Song in Japan), will make his DEEP debut at the event. He will battle Yasuaki Kishimoto.

The future schedule of DEEP was also announced at todays press conference.

First of all, DEEP boss Saeki talked a little about the KSW event last week where DEEP fighters Ryuta Sakurai and Yusuke Kawaguchi participated. He thought Sakurai won the fight and he’s currently protesting to KSW. He also said that the Kawaguchi vs. Pudzianowski fight became a 2 rounder while he was at the arena. The fight made Kawaguchi popular in Poland though as a lot of people wanted to take photos with him afterward. Despite all of this it seems like he wants to continue to be on good terms with KSW.

As for future DEEP events, July in Nagoya, September in Hamamatsu, and December in Tokyo will be events held in a cage.

On July 3rd at Differ Ariake in Tokyo DEEP 48 IMPACT will take place (not a cage event) and Riki Fukuda is planned to defend his DEEP Middleweight title at the event. Possible challengers are Yuichi Nakanishi (who is 1-1 against Fukuda) and Ryuta Sakurai. Also participating in the event will be the Korean who KO’d Ryo Chonan in ASTRA, Jung Hwan Cha.

DEEP 49 IMPACT will be held in August at Korakuen Hall and DEEP 50 IMPACT: The 10th Year Wonder will be held in October. Saeki says that at the 50th Impact there will be 4~5 title fights and he also promises that he himself will weigh-in at 82kg at the weigh-ins the day before the event. Just 18kg to go. If he doesn’t make it he will owe a lot of money.
