First, a big thank you to EVERYONE who came out to support the grand opening and art show of the new Lowrider Tattoo Studio, HQ. It took alot of hard work from everyone who was dedicated since the very first moment that the idea came to mind, and thanks to the strong team and YOU people to support it, together we made the night possible. I think the Lowrider Tattoo family can write an entire book on special thank you’s, shout outs, and why they are important, but I’ll let Jose do those special honors after this post. The basis for this event we called “Inspiration”, originally a purpose for individual artists to pay tribute to their specific mentors and artists. But it’s safe to say from everyone of Lowrider Tattoo Studios, the true inspiration is beyond any individual. To us, seeing and being together as a whole with all of you, is the real inspiration and is what this all about. THANK YOU. Here’s a look at just some of the moments of the show……

I thought it be a good idea to post a blog about the Tattoo Process, to let people know how much work it really takes to create a beautiful tattoo. It is not what you see on Miami Ink… Its actually a really long process that requires a lot from the client and the artist. I hope the following helps you in understanding this long and delicate process.

The first step is to work your self up from the bottom up, so that you dont loose your stencil.

Lining is followed by shading

Already 3 hrs into the tattoo I make sure i line the detail on the face so that dont lose it. I also add all the small detail and darken parts of the body and clothing that defines the picture.

I begin to shade large areas with different tones of grey… first with a primer then with a softer greywash to set the ink properly.

I move to different parts of the tattoo to give the previous areas time to settle down. Already 7 hrs, and you can already see the tattoo coming along smoothly.

It is now 10 hrs of enduring pain…. and we are still sharpening up all the final details. The tattoo looks so smooth that it appears to be healed already. I move on to the back ground…I get my white ink ready for the highligts. After shading and changing from 7 to 15 to 23 grouped needles i finally get my liner to begin the highlights on the faces and parts of the dress and face.

The final product is a Beautiful pinup tattoo. It took 12 hrs to be completed all in one session…. I got say it is incredible that my boy Bob sat through the whole thing with out tapping out. The outcome is absolutely stunning and very rewarding for Bob and myself . Our dear friend Bob came all the way from Boston to entrust us with his tattoo. Not knowing that it would be just a tattoo but also an adventure full of painful moments and lots laughs and new friends.
